Hello, my name is Aleksander Torén.
I first joined Esko in 2011 as a software support engineer, moving to the Ghent office for six months, leaving my wife and two kids back home in Sweden. It was tough for a while, only seeing them once a month. I was lucky my colleagues at Esko quickly made me feel quite at home in Ghent. To this day I still consider the Ghent office as my second home.
One of the warmest moments I’d like to share was that when I was alone for Christmas in Ghent, a colleague invited me over to celebrate with his family. This act of kindness and solidarity is what makes me believe Esko is more than just a place I work. Even though I missed my family, I very much enjoyed the festivities in Belgium that year. That's something that will stick with me.
After this introduction I moved back to Sweden and did home-based work. During this time I had the chance to get in contact with a variety of Esko's products and customers. I also had the opportunity to dedicate some extra attention to one of our customers with periodic visits which led to a better understanding of their needs and wishes.
After nearly three years of working from home I felt the urge to get out and about again. With some help and recommendations from my Esko colleagues, I managed to find a job at an Esko customer company nearby. There I worked as a process developer for a few years. This was great as I had the chance to get an overview of the order and production processes and develop them together with the involved departments. Even though this was interesting, after some time I felt like it was time for something new.
Then, in late 2016 I’d found the opportunity to return to Esko. A job as solution architect presented itself and I was really happy to apply since I saw it as an opportunity to further develop my skills rather than standing still. It felt like coming home.
The prospect of traveling excites me, I'm really looking forward to get back on the road because I love a change of scenery once in a while.
