"Hi,
My name is Uriah Van de Walle. I have been working for Esko for almost 2 years now. Based in our Ghent office, I am working as a Software Support Engineer.
My Esko story began in 2013, my last year at Artevelde University College. I was finalizing my education in the field of Graphical and Digital Media, based in Mariakerke, Belgium. I had two things left to do before graduating, my thesis and my internship.
After visiting the Esko booth at Drupa 2012, I was intrigued by the Kongsberg tables. The speed, preciseness and possibilities of the digital cutting tables inspired me to further investigate them and to choose this for my thesis subject.
With the help of one of my teachers I got in contact with a person of the demo team at Esko, Luc Watcant. After some initial information and a demo on what is possible with the Kongsberg tables, I resumed my investigation and continued writing my thesis. After presenting my thesis successfully I still had to bring in a copy for my mentor at Esko.
This was an ideal moment to get in touch with the human resource department at Esko, asking about the possibility to do my internship in the Ghent office. After some communication back and forth I received the message that I could indeed participate in a project, where I would be under the supervision of David Heijl. During my internship I investigated what and how we could improve the existing online tools, which were used by Esko at that time.
After successfully finishing my internship, I was ready to graduate and start looking for a job in my field of education.
To my surprise, Esko asked me about my interest of staying with them, applying for a job at customer support. I was proud about the fact that my thesis and internship showed Esko that I was motivated to work with them and resulted in a job offer. I knew that Esko is a company where many of my predecessors got the chance to develop their careers, starting at customer support and growing to new levels inside the company.
After a couple of meetings with colleagues from HR, putting the dots on the i’s and crossing the t’s, I officially was a Software Support Engineer.
My story proves how Esko supports students and gives chances to graduates.
You should become one of us!"
